back to my monthly acrylic paintings after a break in march!
this is part 1 of my triptych master study of Monet’s waterlily. i saw this in person at MoMA when i went to NYC, it was the most beautiful thing i’ve yet to see this life… it was humongous and the whole thing was glowing, i’m sure if i leaned in closer i’d see magic fairy dust lol.
the other 2 panels will be painted in the months to come, and they’ll be hung together as a triptych (with a “not sold separately” fineprint lol) the best compliment i got last night was perhaps people with no art background immediately recognizing it as Monet’s waterlilies. i silently wept tears of joy, sniff.
3hrs, 16”x20”, acrylics

in the fleeting moments of dusk I realized I liked the way my bangs looked in the light
instead of taking a picture like a normal asian I painted it

more portrait studies! started this a while ago (inbetween doing enviro homework for Jason hehe). this looked more epic in my head but alas, i am ready to move on to a new painting.
… I had this sudden urge to do a portrait tonight. Then I got a little carried away and now it’s 2:30AM again. |||OTL
I almost ditched this when I first put down the basic composition. the final image is still not what I had in mind, but much better than the last time I tried to paint a forest!
More detailed thumbnail. I was really feeling the pain in painting while doing this, but just wait until I have to add colour lmao.

I actually have art to post that’s not badly Instagram’ed acrylic paintings…! Haha. Some thumbs for a reinterpretation of “The Little Match Girl.” Nice and wintery and morbid.
